This is a collection of stories of Norse mythology, based on the old Norse gods. They feature the might of Thor, the cunning of Loki, the wisdom of Odin, and appearances by all the other key players in Norse myths.
I already knew most of the stories and characters featured in this book, but that did not detract from the reading experience. You certainly do not need to be at all familiar with Norse mythology in order to enjoy this book. In fact, I’d say that it would probably be more enjoyable if you don’t have any previous knowledge.
I loved the stories in this book. They are short and easy to follow, making Norse Mythology a quick and entertaining read. However, I’m a huge fan of Neil Gaiman and would have loved for there to be more of his unique style and creativity. Gaiman has a fantastic imagination, and this book lacked that.
While this book was still entertaining and a great introduction to Norse mythology, I highly recommend reading The Gospel of Loki by Joanne Harris, for a much more detailed, more creative and more humorous take on all the same stories, and more.
I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I have yet to read Gaiman yet so I really need to read something by him!

My favourite of his is Good Omens which he wrote with Terry Pratchett. 100% recommend.

Oh but I love Neil Gaiman with all my heart. I’ve always thought he was the most creative and unusual author I knew so it’s such a shame this didn’t live up to you! Maybe I’ll still try it out? 🙂
If you want to check out my revamped blog which is currently quite (very empty) it’s http://www.weareallcritics.wordpress.com

I love him too and this is definitely still worth a read. It’s just that he’s telling existing stories so this book lacks the creative magic that the rest of his books have. I did still enjoy it though!
I’ll definitely check out your blog 🙂

A very long time ago I read a story involving Norse mythology- probably the only one I read. It’s a children’s book but I don’t remember the name or much about it just that it was very good. Is there any chance you know what I’m talking about? xD Sorry I know this is a very weird request but I’ve been looking for what seems like forever and you seem to know about Norse stories ❤

Sorry, I didn’t start reading Norse mythology until I was a teenager so never read any children’s books on it! Good luck finding it 🙂
